EVAFLEX™ is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer produced and sold by Dow-Mitsui Polychemicals using technologies from the US-based Dow Chemical Company. Like ELVAX™ from Dow Chemical, EVAFLEX™ is a thermoplastic synthetic resin with outstanding properties for a wide range of applications, and various grades with the most suitable properties are available according to applications.
* ELVAX™ is denotes a trademark of the US-based Dow Chemical Company or its affiliates.
EVAFLEX™ exhibits flexibility and elasticity characteristics. In addition:
- It is flexible and non-toxic without needing a plasticizer.
- It boasts excellent low temperature properties.
- It is highly weather resistant and does not exhibit ozone aging.
- It features excellent properties including tear strength, impact strength and stress cracking resistance.
- Vivid coloring is possible through usual methods, enhancing product value.
- Its low specific gravity helps lighten product weight (at least 30% lighter than rubber or PVC).
- It is transparent with a good exterior look and luster.
Despite all these features, it can be used for various molding applications similar to PE, PP, PVC and similar materials.
EVAFLEX™ is used as a material for the following kinds of products.
|Molding methods||Usage detail|
|Injection molding||Artificial turf mats, tires for toy cars, sealing container lids, container plugs, ski equipment, automotive mud guards, rubber feet for furniture legs, sole material for footwear,|
|Hollow molding||toys, bellows pipe, floats, ice makers, foot operated pumps, droppers, bidets, bath shoes, rubber balls|
|Inflation||Agricultural films (agricultural vinyl acetate film), liquid containers, films for medium weight packaging, adhesive and protective films|
|Extrusion coding||Adhesive interlining (cloth/EVA), field sheeting (cloth/EVA), low temperature seal packaging material (paper/EVA, PP/EVA)|
|Extrusion molding||Electric wire, washing machine drainage hoses, protective pipes, spiral sleeves, mud guards, watertight sheets for building and civil engineering, sash gaskets, refrigerator packing, toy rails|
|Calendar molding||Flexible container sheets, field sheets, interior decorations, sheets for miscellaneous uses|
|Foaming||Bra cups (for swimsuits), various packaging materials, sandals, tricycle tires, various shoe sole materials, educational materials|
|Others||Hot melt adhesive, various polymer blends (HDPE/EVA, PP/EVA, PVC/EVA, DPE/EVA, various rubbers/EVA), filling material blends|
